Getting started & account
Can I try it without signing up?
Yes. Tap "Browse as Guest" on the sign-in screen and pick your home currency to start right away (you need an internet connection the first time).
- Guests have limits on the number of trips, expenses, logs and photos.
- Invites and search aren't available to guests.
- You can try Premium features such as footprints, budget pockets and detailed statistics a few times each.
- When you sign up, everything you've recorded carries over, whether you use email, Apple or Google. New accounts can also try every Premium feature for free.
- Guest data that's never signed up is deleted 90 days after you started. As the date gets close, a banner on the home screen tells you how many days are left.
How can I sign in?
You can sign in with email, Apple or Google. Sign in with Apple works on Android too.
After signing up, you can connect or disconnect other methods in Settings > "Sign-in methods" (the last remaining method can't be disconnected).
What happens to my data when I get a new phone?
Your trips, expenses, logs and photos are stored in the cloud. Sign in with the same account on your new phone and everything downloads automatically.
- Photos that haven't finished uploading exist only on the old phone. Before switching, check Settings > General for "N photos waiting to upload". If you see it, some photos haven't uploaded yet; if you don't, everything is uploaded.
- Guests can't sign in again on another device. Please sign up before you switch phones.
I forgot my password.
Tap "Forgot password?" on the sign-in screen and enter the email you signed up with. We'll send you a reset email.
- Resetting your password disconnects any linked Google or Apple sign-in. Reconnect it in Settings > "Sign-in methods".
- If you signed up only with Apple or Google, just sign in that way — no password needed.
How do I delete my account?
Tap "Delete Account" at the bottom of Settings, review the notice, and confirm it's you (enter your password, or sign in again with Apple or Google). This requests deletion and signs you out. 30 days after the request, your account and the trips you created, with their expenses, logs and photos, are deleted (from v5.6.0).
- To cancel: sign in again with the same account within 30 days. You'll see "This account is scheduled for deletion". Tap "Cancel deletion" to keep using it as before.
- Shared trips: trips you created are deleted too, even if friends have joined them, and your friends can no longer see them. If you had joined other people's trips, you leave those trips. Their expenses stay with the trip owner, and your name is removed.
- While deletion is pending, you can't sign up again with the same email. To use the app again, sign in and cancel the deletion.
- Deleting your account doesn't cancel your store subscription. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play first.
- If you've already removed the app, see Account deletion for how to request it without the app.
How do I change the app language?
The app is available in 한국어, English, 日本語 and Deutsch. Go to Settings > General > "Language" to open your phone's per-app language setting.
- iPhone: If only one language is set up on your phone, the per-app language option doesn't appear. Add another language in Settings > General > Language & Region.
- Android 13 and later: The app language picker opens directly.
- Android 12 and earlier: The app follows your phone's language, and the "Language" row isn't shown.
If your phone is set to a language the app doesn't support, the app is shown in English.
Trips & expenses
Can I travel to several countries or use several currencies?
Yes. A trip's currencies are set automatically to your destination's currency and your home currency. To add more, go to the trip's ⋯ menu > "Currency Settings" > "Add Currency".
When you enter an expense, tap the currency button to choose that expense's currency. The amount converted to your home currency is shown alongside.
- Adding a second destination or extra currencies is a Premium feature.
How are exchange rates set?
- Automatic rates: Rates update automatically once a day, and the latest rate is applied when you enter an expense. The last rates are saved on your device, so conversion works offline too.
- Your own rate: On the expense entry screen, tap the rate, choose "Fixed Rate", and enter the foreign amount and the home-currency amount. Turn on "Use this rate for next … transactions" to keep using it for the next expenses in the same currency on the same trip (this setting is saved only on that device).
- Pocket rate: For money with a known rate, like cash you exchanged, set a fixed rate on a budget pocket. Expenses paid from that pocket use the pocket's rate.
My card charge doesn't match the amount converted in the app.
Card charges include your card issuer's rate and foreign transaction fees, so they can differ from the app's conversion. Once you get your statement, you can match the actual charged amount (from v5.3.0).
- One at a time: In the expense details, tap "Enter card charge" under the converted amount and enter the charge. It appears only for expenses paid by card in a foreign currency.
- From your statement total: Use "Match card charges" in the trip's ⋯ menu or at the bottom of the settlement screen. Enter the statement total per payer and currency, and it's split across the selected expenses in proportion to their amounts.
- The matched amounts are used everywhere: statistics, budget, exports and settlement.
What is a budget pocket?
A pocket holds money you want to track separately, like exchanged cash or a shared kitty. Each pocket shows what you've spent and what's left.
- Create: In the trip's "Budget" tab, tap "Create Budget Pocket" and choose the pocket's currency.
- Add money: Use "Add Funds" in the pocket details.
- Spend: Choose the pocket when you enter an expense, and it's taken from that pocket.
- Rate: Each pocket can have its own fixed exchange rate.
- Creating budget pockets is a Premium feature.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. You can record, view, edit and search expenses and logs offline. Everything syncs automatically once you're back online.
- Waits for a connection: photo uploads, automatic receipt AI
- Needs a connection: signing in, joining or leaving a trip, adding an expense with receipt AI manually, looking up footprint place names
Can I search for or duplicate expenses?
- Search: The magnifier on the home screen searches all trips; the one inside a trip searches that trip only. It looks through trip names and countries, expense titles, memos, places, amounts and categories, and log text and footprint places.
- Duplicate (from v5.3.0): Long-press an expense in the list and choose "Duplicate" to save a copy right away. The date and time stay the same as the original, and photos aren't copied. You can "Undo" right after.
Can I export my data to Excel or other files?
Yes, per trip. Choose a format from the trip's ⋯ menu and the share sheet opens.
- PDF: A statistics report and the expense list. You can choose whether to include photos.
- Excel: An expenses sheet and a statistics sheet
- CSV: Date, time, type, category, amount, currency, converted amount, exchange rate, payment method, title, memo, members, created at
Exporting files is a Premium feature.
Can I change my home currency?
Yes, in Settings > General > "Home Currency". The new home currency applies to trips you create from then on; existing trips stay as they are.
How do I record money spent before the trip?
For things you pay for before the trip, like flights, accommodation or currency exchange, set the date before the trip's start date and they collect under "Pre" in the "Expenses" tab.
- For an expense you paid in advance but want to keep on a trip date, like a rental car, turn on "Also show in Pre tab" on the expense entry screen. It stays on its date and also shows under "Pre" (from v5.5.0). The option appears when the date is on or after the trip's start date.
Can amounts be shown as 1.234,56?
Yes. In Settings > General > "Number format", choose 1,234.56 or 1.234,56 (from v5.5.0). Amounts and percentages follow this setting; your saved records don't change.
Receipt AI
How do I use receipt AI?
In a trip's "Log" tab, tap "Receipt" and take a photo. The AI reads the amount, currency, date, store name and address, payment method (cash/card) and category, and adds it as an expense. Refund receipts are added as refunds.
- Capture: Tap the Receipt button to open the camera, or long-press it to pick from your gallery. You can attach several receipts (up to 15) to one log.
- First expense: In a trip with no expenses yet, tap "Scan a receipt" in the "Expenses" tab and the AI adds it as an expense right there, without switching tabs (from v5.5.0).
- Add manually: Tap "Add as expense (AI)" on a receipt you've posted.
- Add automatically: Tap the gear to the right of the log input > "Log settings" and turn on "Auto-add expenses with AI". Every receipt you send is then added by the AI. If you're offline, it's added once you're connected.
- Check and fix: Expenses added by the AI show "Auto-filled by AI · Check receipt" in their details; tap it to see the original side by side. You can also tap the amount to edit it.
- Photo quality: If a photo is blurry, too dark or too bright, the app suggests retaking it.
- Only the person who created the trip can post receipts and add them with AI.
How many times can I use receipt AI?
- While a Premium pass is active, or with a Premium membership, there's no limit.
- Otherwise, each trip comes with a free trial allowance. The allowance may change.
- If the AI fails to read a receipt, the use is refunded.
The AI read the wrong currency.
- Before adding: If the AI couldn't read the currency, the currency isn't in your trip, or it isn't sure, you'll see "Just confirm the currency" before the expense is added. Pick or add the right currency there. If you choose "Later", you can pick it later without using the AI again.
- After adding: In the expense details, tap the amount and change the currency; it's recalculated with that currency's rate.
Sharing & settling up
How do I share a trip with friends?
In the trip's "Profile" tab, tap the invite button next to "Travel Members" and send the invite link. When your friend opens it, they sign in (or sign up) and join the trip automatically.
- Links are valid for 7 days after they're created.
- Up to 20 people can share a trip.
- Only the person who created the trip can invite, using a signed-up account.
Can invited friends add expenses too?
Not yet — invited friends have view-only access. They can see expenses, budget, logs and photos, and the settlement too if the person who created the trip has Premium. The person who created the trip does the recording and editing. We plan to let friends add entries themselves in the future.
Friends can leave at any time with "Leave This Travel" in the trip menu.
Can I include friends who don't use the app in the settlement?
Yes. On the "Travel Members" screen, tap "Add by name" and just enter a name. You can also get there from "Companion doesn't use the app? Add by name" at the bottom of the invite window. Friends added by name can be chosen as payer or members of an expense, and they're included in the settlement.
If that friend starts using the app later, send them a personal link with "Send invite link" next to their name. When they join with that link, they're linked to the spot you added by name, and all their expenses carry over.
How does settling up work?
When you enter an expense, choose "Paid by" and the members who shared it. The app works out who should send how much to whom (from v5.3.0).
- Screen: Once a trip has two or more members, "Settle up" appears in the "Profile" tab. It shows what you owe and are owed, transfers between members, and what each member paid and spent.
- Checks: Expenses that need attention, such as ones without a payer, are gathered under "Please check".
- Share: Send the result to a chat with "Copy settlement" or the share button.
- Splitting: Each expense is split equally among its members.
- Amounts: Amounts are based on the home-currency conversion, and you can match them to your card charges.
- Price: The settlement is a Premium feature. When the person who created the trip has Premium (an active pass counts) and opens the trip, the settlement opens to every member, and it stays open for that trip even after the pass ends. Members don't need to pay. Until then, only members with Premium can see it.
Can friends on a shared trip upload photos?
No. Only the person who created the trip can post photos and logs. Friends can view the photos that are posted.
Travel journal
What is the Log tab?
It's where you capture moments of your trip, like a chat. Everything you post builds up into a timeline by date.
- What you can post: text, photos (up to 5 at a time), receipts and footprints
- Navigate: Tap a date to jump to another day or change the sort order.
- Edit: Long-press a log to edit it, change its time or delete it (trip creator only).
What is a footprint?
A footprint records where you are right now. Tap "Footprint" in the Log tab and the app finds your location and the name of a nearby restaurant, place to stay or sight. If no place is found, it saves the address.
- Location permission is required.
- Offline, only the location is saved. Once you're connected, use "Fill in place name" to add the name.
- Footprints are a Premium feature.
How do I see my travel globe?
Tap "View my travel globe" on the travel stats card at the top of the home screen.
- The countries you've visited light up one by one, and your routes are drawn across the globe.
- It also shows countries visited, number of trips, total travel days and total spending.
- Tap "Save travel video" to turn it into a short video you can share right away.
Who can see my logs?
Logs are a record for the members of that trip. On a solo trip, only you see them; on a shared trip, the trip's members can see them in the Log tab. Only the person who created the trip can post text and photos.
Premium and payment

- Unlimited AI receipt scans
- Settle up for shared trips · visible to all members
- Spread expenses across days
- Multiple photos per expense
- Export to PDF, Excel and CSV
- Multiple countries and currencies
- Budget pockets
- Detailed statistics
- Trip folders

- Unlimited photos per trip
There are two plans.
- Premium pass (7 or 30 days): A one-time purchase for just the days you travel. It never renews automatically.
- Premium annual membership: A subscription that renews every year. Cancel anytime.
New accounts can try every Premium feature for free, and nothing is charged when the trial ends. Monthly subscriptions started earlier continue as before.
How do I use a Premium pass?
You buy a pass ahead of time and start it when you travel. Its days don't count down until you start it.
- Start: Tap the pass icon at the top of the home screen, or Settings > "Payment and Plan", to open "My passes", then tap "Start" on a pass. If you tap a Premium feature while holding a pass, the app may also ask whether to start it now. Once started, it can't be undone.
- Back to back: If you start a pass while another one is active, it begins when the current one ends.
- When it ends: You're back on the free features. Your records and photos stay.
- With a membership: A membership already includes everything a pass does, so you can't start a pass while subscribed. Your passes stay in your wallet for after the subscription ends.
- You need an account to buy a pass, and there's a limit on how many unused passes you can hold. Refunds follow App Store and Google Play policies.
I bought a pass but Premium isn't active.
- Check that you tapped "Start" in "My passes". Until you start it, the pass doesn't count down and Premium stays off.
- Update the app to the latest version. Versions older than v5.5.0 don't recognize passes, so Premium features look locked.
- Make sure you're signed in to the TrabeePocket account you bought the pass with. If the pass still doesn't appear, tap "Restore Purchase" at the bottom of the payment screen.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancel in the store where you subscribed (App Store or Google Play). In the app, go to Settings > "Payment and Plan". "My Membership" opens; tap "Manage Subscription" there to go to the store's subscription page. If you hold passes and "My passes" opens instead, cancel from the subscription page in the App Store or Google Play.
- After you cancel, you keep Premium until your next billing date.
- If you cancel during a store free trial, you won't be charged.
- Passes and the sign-up free trial never renew or charge automatically, so there's nothing to cancel.
I switched phones and my subscription or passes aren't showing.
Your subscription and passes are tied to your TrabeePocket account. Signing in with the account you bought them with usually brings them back automatically. If they still don't show:
- Make sure you're signed in to the store with the Apple ID or Google account you used for the purchase.
- Tap "Restore Purchase" at the bottom of the payment screen.
Subscriptions and passes stay with the TrabeePocket account that first bought them and can't be restored to a different TrabeePocket account.
